Normalisation of Upslope Source in RIOS?

LonBarLonBar Member
Hi all,

I see in this comment from January 2016 that the preprocessor doesn't normalise the upslope source... I was wondering why this is?

I have a look at the RIOS IPA code (natcap.rios.version.version = '1.1.8') and the upslope source gets normalised when the objective-level transitions get calculated. As far as I can see, no other processing uses the non-normalised upslope source... am I missing something?

Many thanks,

    Hi Leon,
You are right that the upslope source raster (along with all other inputs) are normalized in RIOS IPA. The comment you read relates to the pre-processor outputs. This is just a legacy of how the pre-processor was created, and the fact that it is not normalized does not affect at all how RIOS works, it was just noted in order to explain why the range of values for that output from the pre-processor was so different from the others.
