Marine Water Quality applied in the open ocean?

Hello Marine Water Quality experts and modelers,

Does anyone know of studies using the Marine Water Quality model in open water, outside of protected gulfs, estuaries, or away from the nearshore? I have an inquiry from someone interested in applying the model in the Caspian Sea, who would like to see any examples of uses at similar scales.

Are there any limitations of the model that would make this a bad idea?

Thank you,
Dave

    Model developer CK says,

"InVEST WQ model provides a flexible framework that can be applicable to both semi-closed and open seas.
Both current (Advection Vectors) and diffusion (Tidal Diffusion Constants) data are required for the open sea applications. Note that the current is an important forcing mechanism in the open sea, so that it is essential data rather than optional. I do not have an example for the application, but I'm happy to help you to set up the model for your study area. Please let me know if you need further assistance."

    Thanks CK!
