  • Well, wish it wasn't a mini course like this.. I just "graduated" from it, and now I'm much hungry to learn more~
Thank you so much Mr. Verutes, you, Miss. Vogl and all the specialists who made this course. It means so much for me~

    Hi Stanford team,

As I have just completed the online course, just wondering when we can download the statement of accomplishment?

    Hi lee88,

We apologize for the delay. The Statements of Accomplishment will be ready to download by 13 March 2014. Visit the "Finishing Up" >> "Course Completion" section and click the button to generate the SofA as a PDF.

    Hi Verutes,

As mentioned, I have gone to the "Finishing Up" tab on the course page on stanford online. However, there is no tab on "Course Completion" section to click the button to generate the SofA as a PDF. I believe that normally certificates are placed on the dashboard page after the course has ended.

Since this course is not a traditional MOOC where new units are released weekly, we are allowing participants to generate a SofA at any time.

As I mentioned in the previous post, SofAs will be made available by the end of day 13th March. Please visit the "Finishing Up" >> "Course Completion" section to obtain your SofA.

    Thanks,
    Gregg

    Hi Gregg

Thank you for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, I have gone to the "Finishing Up" tab with no "Course Completion" section available to click on, even on 14/3 Friday. Could it because I have only completed modules 1 & 2 for level 1? I have attached herewith a screenshot for your perusal. According to the course outline, completion of modules 1 & 2 are also eligible for SOA.

Yes, you are correct -- completing the checks and quizzes for modules 1 & 2 will make you eligible for one of the SofAs. Unfortunately, the Stanford courseware team is still working to install the functionality that produces both of the SofAs. Please let me know if you need one immediately and I can try to manually create one. Otherwise, I will post a message on this discussion once this feature of the course is working properly.

My apologies for the delay. This should be cleared up by early next week.

    Hi Gregg

I have managed to finish all 4 modules with 97% now & still not able to access the completion section to print the SOA. Hopefully the technical glitch could be fix soon.

I will post a message when the SofAs are ready. Thanks for your patience.

  • Hi!

Quick question regarding the quiz in Module #3 Intro to GIS. Question 3 addresses the differences between Vector vs. Raster graphics and asks that we "drag the text in the scrollbar below and place it on top of the group name label". While I am certainly open to the possibility that I am providing a wrong answer (which I do not want to divulge here), I do wonder if this question is programmed correctly, since almost all viable options seem to be giving a wrong answer?

Also, as a general tip, it might be a bit more "pedagogically correct" to allow 5 attempts at providing a correct answer, after which the the correct answer is displayed (an no credit is given) - as some other online quizzes do. The way that the quizzes are currently programmed, one never gets to see the correct answer.

    Hi rfencl,

Thanks for the suggestion for displaying the answer to Q3. I'm not sure the courseware allows multiple attempts and correct answer display for the 'drag and drop' questions. I will look into it. Please e-mail me at gverutes at stanford.edu and I can provide you with the correct answers and explanations to question 3.
